How to find a working stream address?

Postby Lapsang » 22 Dec 2017, 18:32

In the past I worked for a radio station (Omroep Nijmegen, later called Nijmegen N1) that now again has a new name and a new structure.

I asked the new station team for a working stream address, but they don’t seem to know what that is and persist I should go to their web site (“Sounds just as good”). They advise me otherwise to contact the web site builder.

Can you find a stream address from a web site with only a built-in player? (Sometimes you can copy the audio location, or copy the link address, but often this is not possible).

The new station is called “rn7”. Also Radio?Sure! still shows Nijmegen N1.

This is in fact a general question, because “rn7” is not really a favourite station for me.

Hi,
If the station has a webplayer, then we can try to get the stream while playing (by a program).
In some occasions , there is not a possible or usable stream, that is, if the website uses special flash-players with streams that can only be decoded by the installed flasplayer.
In a lot of cases we can get out a usefull stream (and after testing ina real radiosure player) that can be used in the station sheet as update."we" will try the mentioned site and let you know, and update "Nijmegen"to the new name,or add the new name in title:-)

Thank you, Fonzy,

What I thought is that it might be useful to study "source code of the page", or "inspect element", computer language that I never understood until now.

I see that you use a specialised computer program.

Let's wait if 'rn7' will show up. :|

Hi,
Well , frustrating..., on my (both) browsers, the site appears, the TV plays (without showing any stream on my URL-stream detector !!), but radio does not play.
If I look at streams, only commodo certificates are trying to sync , but my browsers (both) say: invalid certificate, certificate from an other website ...
So no stream detected.
--------------------------------
Edit: after re-installing Chrome browser (known for letting pass anything !) radio plays, but still no stream in URLsnooper !! weird. In page-properties ther is a stream, tested it and is the same as the playing chrome websiteplayer/ Works also in Radiosure player (and exceptional: https works here )
Stationsheet edited by Mirz, and wait for my (or other approver)approval.

What I forgot to mention: they are also present on TuneIn. Does that bring any help?

But, now that I read your post again, I see you already were successful in finding a stream.

And, after this, I discover it is already in the stations list. Very good, thank you again!

Hi,
Well, before my edit, I mentioned that the station would not play on tune-in.com either.("an error occured")
Now ?, I do not know
Thanks to Chrome installed just for test here( wich accept al) I could play the webplayer.
That tells alot about smartphoneplayers....(accepting sites with inacurate certificats, reason why rejected by Firefox and other secure browsers....)
Anyway, the stream sems not to give problems in radiosure
:-)

Strange that the webplayer did not react on you. Before my first post, I tried the webplayer, and also TuneIn, in Firefox and Opera: no problems observed. Or were you maybe testing on a smartphone?

I discovered that the stream works in VLC Player, only when the 's' is removed from 'https'.
